We have a drilled well (800 ft). Over the past few months we have noticed that when the tank refills the house pipes start to make a loud rumbling sound. This also sometimes happens when we flush the toilet and turn on the kitchen water, but definately when the tank is filling up. The pressure is fine and everything else seems ok. It is becoming extremely annoying. Any suggestions.

Thanks!!

Make sure you do not have too much air in the tank. The bladder bouncing can make rumbling noise. ie; 40/60 pressure switch with more than 40 PSI precharge in the tank, bladder bounces. If this is the case let some air out of the tank or raise the setting of the pressure switch. 40/60 switch, air precharge should be 38 PSI.

I had what sounds like the same kind of noise that you are talking about for over one year. I found out that the noise was caused by an air venturi device that was installed into the incoming water line (before the pressure tank). It was needed to put oxygen into the water before it enters into the iron filter tank. After removing the venturi the noise is completely gone. I had to install another type of iron filter.

Hey, wait a minute.

This is awkward, but...
