Live in a 20yr old new construction. Last night when my daughter started the bathtub upstairs there was a pretty loud banging noise from the pipes - at least 2 bangs per second. She was oblivious but I was downstairs in the kitchen freakin out. She turned it off and then turned it on again and no banging. Then later that night, son started bath and same thing and then when he stopped it and restarted, it didn't do it. I have started the tub spigot several times today and can't reproduce it. Have NEVER heard this before.

Any ideas? We got a new tank water heater about 4 months ago, if that would have any bearing. But the sound was seemingly from the pipe in the wall going up to the tub upstairs, and not down in the basement at the water heater.

Ok thanks

This is a single lever where you turn it and it starts cold and then the more you turn it left the warmer it gets

I guess I will just monitor it and fingers crossed

Ok that works

It sounded horrible and I had visions of the pipe breaking in the wall and ruining the house. But like I said, haven't been able to replicate
