Inconsistent sewer smell, fixtures not vented?

It's hard to determine by looking at the pictures alone without a physical inspection. There are more questions than answer here, like: the pipe going up in the corner - from the inside picture, looks like it's on the right of the window...and from the outside picture it's also to the right of the window ?

Your research and conclusion is most likely correct and you have to improve the venting.

Have you talked to the plumber who installed this?

What is behind the insulation there? You may find a vent going up.
