1. Vessel Sink on Granite
Drain assembly broke and I had to remove the entire sink to get the nut off as it was connected to the sink above the granite slab.
I have been putting off fixing it as I wasn't completely sure how it is supposed to be done.
I bought a new drain assembly and I am not sure if I am supposed to connect the drain assembly to the sink itself, tighten it down with the nut AND then place it in the counter hole, using silicone to keep the sink down.
Or
Do I mount the sink and drop the drain, then use the nut under the granite counter? That seems to be the easiest to replace in the future, but was not how it was on before.
2. The sink does have one overflow drain as well. The drain I bought has two overflow holes in it. I understand how one of those is needed for the overflow to drain into the pipe, but the other hole, on the opposite side, just seems like a place water would get out of and gather outside of the drain. It would either pool up between the drain pipe and the sink, or find a way out of that area. If it’s all sealed up, it will probably just pool up there. This seems odd. You can see in the photo there is a gap between the sink and the downspout drain. Wouldn’t water just go from the overflow into that gap? Or simply water running could enter either or both of the overflow hols in the drain and get behind the downspout drain.
Thanks for any replies.
