Although we've been in this house 30 years (and I am getting older) the sound of water rushing through the copper pipes when any sink or shower/tub is turned on is certainly noticeable. It is not a hammer. Is there anything known to be the reason for this?

What changed -- the sound, your priorities, or the level of background music?

What is the static water pressure? You can get a prv and turn the pressure down which will help.
