I'm at a loss. I am on the verge of calling out a plumber but wasn't really wanting to resort to that since money is tight. Our kitchen sink has started to drain extremely slow. Our bathroom sink, toilet and washer are all fine. The sink and dishwasher seem to be the only things having a problem. I had discovered it is not coming from under the sink at all because you can access the pipe line from both the dishwasher and then sink from the wall in the back of our house. I have used hot water as well as a 20 ft snake with no success. We have tried a plunger as well. I disconnected the air vent and realized it is not clogged. I don't know what the next step would be. Using a 25 ft snake seems to get stuck on a bend in the pipe or so at about 21 feet and will not go further.

That open pipe is your vent? That sure looks like easy access. I would use a Brasscraft Medium Drain Bladder. Shove it, with the hose, as far as it goes, and turn on the water.

I cannot guarantee something won't blow out. I am not a plumber or other pro. I have used Brasscraft drain bladder successfully, but my problem was maybe 5 ft down.

With a little snake, you can poke a little hole through a clog, and keep going. That blockage is still mostly still there. So your block could be 5 or 6 ft down still. Where a kitchen sink drain transitions from vertical to horizontal is a common place for a clog. If you could measure how much water it takes to back up, you could estimate how far along your blockage is. http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/pipe-water-content-volume-weight-d_1734.html shows how many gallons per ft that a pipe holds.

On those two horizontal PVC pipes in the photo, what are those? I see the upper pipe has a sanitary tee, but the bottom one does not. That is not causing your symptoms, but it could cause a smell symptom at some point.

Thank you very much for that information. I am going to get the bladder and try that tonight. I have a feeling it may work, as you said the snake may just poke a little hole but still leave it clogged. I do notice some spots if resistance with the snake however I wasn't sure what may be the clog or what may be a bend in the pipe.

The upper one is the pipe from the sink, the lower one is the one from the dishwasher.
