Is this an Old or New Style Delta 1700 Series?

I was told to replace the cartridge because of temperature issues. Before I do that I want to make sure I get the right one. I see there are two cartridges for this faucet. One is for 1700 series made before 2006 and the other is after 2006.

Normally it would be safe to assume the old cartridge already in there is the right one, but I don't want to make any assumptions. Can you tell if this the old or new version of the 1700 series from the photos below? If not then is there a simple way to tell? Thank you!

I think both cartridges fit in the rough valve. Has this cartridge been changed before? If so there's no way that I know if not to guess. Was this cartridge working fine prior to your recent issues?
