Awful drain smell coming from our bathroom sink. Tried several cleaning products, nothing works. Sink empties ok. Wondering if the P trap has been installed properly?

No it has not. You have a deep trap which will slow down the water letting sediment settle and the trap not self scour, there is no vent which can cause siphoning of the trap letting sewer gas leak out, and the accordion flexible pipe is notorious for catching gunk causing smells and clogs.

That wrong installation may not be the cause of the smell. To test for that, slowly run water to fill the trap. If the smell does not happen with a full trap, that suggests that your trap has previously siphoned out. You can backlight the trap with a flashlight to see what the water level in the trap is.

For cleaning the sink, don't forget the overflow where stuff may be growing.

Thanks for your replies, I've checked the overflow, all ok and clean, there is plenty of water in the trap, I can see it when shining a light down the plughole, and also undoing the fittings on trap itself shows plenty of water.
