I believe my AAV is wore out, sewer gas smell near kitchen sink. Before I destroy the present AAV or resort to cutting off the fixture from the pipe, was wondering if the very top of this device [I am talking above the adapter] would unscrew.? Seems to be an easy job if I could just screw a new one back on. Tx Pat

an easy option is to cut the pipe itself, and replace with a no hub coupling (looks like 1-1/2") then work on it readily.

Finally got around to "changing" the AAV. The plumber glued the Oatey and could not be unscrewed. Sawed off the 2" pipe inserted new parts using a no hub coupler. Should be much easier next time to change. Its been a week and no odor. Knock, knock. Tx for the tips.
