I was lucky to find a Milwakua M12 PEX expansion tool with Milwakue heads online for a very good price. I am thinking about using Zurn Pex with expansion fittings. Zurn makes expansion heads for the Milakui M12 tool and according to some people online, Zurn's heads are better because they go deeper to make deeper expansion and rotate more.

Does anyone have experience using Zurn heads and do they make a difference?

Has anyone used the Milwakuei heads on Zurn pipe and did it make a difference?

Thanks for any input you can provide!

I know this is a year later, but what did you end up doing?

If I was expanding PEX A I would absolutely use the Milwaukee expansion heads (and I have), but if I was expanding something that was still compatible but not as flexible as A (like PEX B), I would probably buy the Zurn heads. I like how they use a "puzzle piece" interlocking system that would appear (logically at least) to reduce the possibility of creating seep channels in the pipe material.

Yeah, I’ve used both Zurn and Milwaukee heads on Zurn PEX. The Zurn heads definitely rotate more and give a bit deeper expansion, which I found helped the fittings slide in smoother, especially in colder temps. That said, Milwaukee heads still work fine and get the job done if you're not doing tons of installs. If you already have the Milwaukee heads, you’re good to go, but if you can get the Zurn ones cheap, they’re a nice upgrade.
