I can't understand this! I replaced an old toilet over the same sewer pipe, which was not moved and now my new toilet tank is 4" from the wall. How did this happen? I installed an American Standard Cadet 3 toilet. I'm baffled and it looks horrible. Do I need another new toilet? Did I install this incorrectly somehow? Do I need an offset toilet flange to get this closer to the wall? And it's not just that the tank is 4" from the wall but the whole toilet feels like it's in the middle of the room. Advice??

Standard toilet is 12" from the wall, that is to the bolt holes. 10" and 14" bowls are available. Check your measurement.

Measure from the wall to the flange bolt and see what you get. Then look at the paperwork for the toilet and see what it's measurement is.

you probably got a 10 inch rough in toilet when you have a 14 inch rough in. The only way to fix this is to replace the toilet with a 14 inch rough in toilet. Otherwise you would be opening up your floors to move the toilet back
