Sliding shower door goof

Is this the proper site to discuss frameless shower door design?

Frameless shower door installer checked out my newly tiled shower.
I want a fixed panel and slider.
Installer says because of tight fit, sliding door will have to be on outside. Would need opaque plastic molding attached to door to prevent water from going between panes.
Curb is centered on window molding. Only have 2 3/4" for shower door footprint.
Any suggestions?

Plumbing code (UPC) wants 22" of opening for egress for a shower. That's all I got.
