I have a craftsman 3/4 hp shallow well jet pump hydro-glass 40/60 pressure. the pump was used i bought it from a guy who bought it at a flee market he had it for a couple of years and i got it from him and had it for a few years before i put it in. He took it apart and cleaned it and put it back together he help me put it in i got a new pressure switch for it a 40/60 we set the pump at 40/60 and the tank at 38 pounds. it worked good for awhile and then it seemed like it would run longer and longer sometimes if i tap the pressure switch it would shut off some times it wouldn't. I turned the pressure down to 35/55 and the tank to 33 pounds and it works better but still seem to run to long. Do you think the pump just old and wore out.

The pump it self does sound like it is sucking air in the nose of it it made of some kind of plastic.. I did change the fitting where the water line comes in and hooks to it maybe i tighten it to tight and cracked the plastic but it doesn't leak no water. And i don't get air in my lines sink or nothing.
