I'm finishing my basement and adding a half-bath. The toilet rough-in (see picture) was done by the original builder. There is a 2" vent as shown in the picture that ties into the toilet waste line under the concrete. I am planning on adding a sink to the left of 2" vent line via the sanitary tee that the original builder provided. The drain size would be 1.5". The centerline of the sink is 45 inches, third stud from vent line. What's the maximum distance you can have a sink from the vent line? I've seen conflicting information. Thank you so much for the help.

Are there any other comments on this proposed plumbing? The drain will be sloped 1/4" per foot.

I found the following in the code. For a 1.5" drain, the max from the vent is 6'. So am I good to go?

If you use a 1.5" trap (not a 1.25" trap), the total fall from the trap to the san-tee on your stack that will vent the trap is limited to 1.5". So if you use the exact minimum fall of 1/4" per foot, then the trap arm (including the portion outside the wall) may be up to 6' long.

So if you have 45" within the wall, and say 12" outside the wall, that's a bit under 5' and you can make it work if you control the slope properly. If you end up with 3/8" per foot slope, you are limited to 4' and it won't comply.

Cheers, Wayne
