We’re spec’ing a new DHW & heating system and currently targeting Navien’s NCB because we like the multiple built-in zone controls and PVC venting among other things (this is for our own residential application, but we have Navien in a commercial building we own that‘s been totally trouble-free for DHW and heating for years), but want to know what the competition is - do other manufacturers have comparable boilers? Name names, please.
Frankly, part but not all of the driver here is that I’m a pretty competent DIY’er (I’ve been building homes and installing core electrical and plumbing systems since the Nixon Administration) and not thrilled about having to sub-out boiler installation. I can’t seem to buy the Navien without having to get cute about it. I have installed Takagi in a cabin my son built, but that’s DHW only.
