I realize this is probably a little overkill for this application, but this is the smallest Combi Navien offers.
This would be for a 1 bedroom basement apartment. 1 Laundry, 1 kit sink, 1 dishwasher, 1 full bath, two 8ft hydronic fin tubes for heat. If the 2nd bedroom is incuded, it would be a total of three 8ft fin tubes.
So my questions are:
I was thinking of getting the
VT2218 ECM High-Efficiency Circulator pump for the heating zone loop. It comes with 2 temperature sensors for supply and return. I am still reading through the specs on the boiler, but I believe the boiler also has temperature sensor accessories that can be purchased and added.(still not sure about my particular model if it is sensor capable)
1) If this model boiler does have temp sensor options, will doing both the pump temp sensors and boiler temp sensors interfere with one another as far as efficiency or do they run independent of one another?
2) I currently have an Alpine Burnham condensing boiler for the main part of my house in which I use commisioning fluid to maintain the PH. Is it necessary or can I do the same with the Navien?
3) Manual says a lwco is built into the boiler, but mentions depending on your local plumbing code, you may need to install an external lwco. They sell an additional kit for this which I will purchase if needed. I live in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Are external lwco needed in my area if boiler has one built in?
4) Most of the parts on the heating side are lead free. The only thing I couldnt find lead free was the brass flange kit for the pump. I assume its no issue since its on the heat side, but i wanted to ask and be sure.
5) What I am mostly concerned about is the backflow preventer and the pressure relief valve I purchased. The backflow specifies to protect domestic water, but is not exactly lead free, it says low lead. And the pressure relief valve that came with the service valve kit for dhw is lead. Should I be concerned about these 2 items? Here is the link:
