Main water supply - PVC or PE

Good Morning,
I am located in Lewis County, WA State.
Building an ADU and tackling a few of the plumbing areas myself.
I was all set to use 1 1/4 inch PVC for a 70 ft run 10 ft joined sticks from my well to my home inlet.
A friend said they used PE and to be careful because codes can dictate what pipe to use & that sand may also be required in the ditch.
I want to be sure I use the correct material.
I also do not recall who I call to inspect.
The bury depth will be 24 inches in clay soil.
