Trying to move Kohler K-T8228-4 Valve trim to replace a valve. What they call the lug handle which is that brass screw inside the hollow lever securing the lever to the stem is seized. I have stripped it trying to remove it. What are my options here? Do I need to cut the lever and hope to find a replacement (its a farily old unit, approx 16 years old)?

Any help is appreciated.

most Kohler single handle shower valves are accessed by Unscrewing the cylindrical handle assembly. Of course, that lever should be removable, but you ought to be able to get at the cartridge by removing the assembly.

After speaking with Kohler, they are sending me a new updated trim along with an adapter to retrofit it to my K 304 ancient valve. So I guess I'll just proceed with doing whatever I need to do to remove the old one.

Have to say I'm impressed that Kohler is warrantying a 16 year old setup with a new valve trim and adapter, no questions asked , did not expect that.
