Hello folks,

I have a well using a Franklin pump controller. I would like to override the water level signal from the storage tank and turn the pump on manually.

I looked at this wiring schematic:

It seems pretty easy. Just wire in a switch between L2 and SW.

But the controller I have is a little different (installed by previous party).

There is no SW terminal. So I am not sure how to go about this.

Could anyone share any insight?

Thank you.

Normally you would just need a little jumper wire between the first (unmarked) terminal and the L2 in the control box. But I can't tell where your tank level control was tied in. If there is a red wire underneath the first terminal, adding the jumper should work regarless.

Thanks Valveman. That is the odd thing. As you can see in this picture, there are not even any screws in the first (SW) terminal. And no wire coming out from below.

OK, I went down to the well and had another look. I took a better picture which shows the float switch wiring coming into the box (1) and leading to the relay (2) and (3).

So I think if I install a manual switch between (2) and (3) I should be able to turn the pump on an off.

Just find the two wires going to level control. #1 conduct from tank control? Put a switch between them. Which pic is your control? 3jpg?

I don't see it, but it is hard to follow the wires in the photo.

If the two wires from the float switch are actually coming through "1", you could trace those wires to see where they go in that box -- unless that is what you did.

Yes, connecting 2 and 3 should do it. All a float switch does is make those two wires connect. You can twist those two wires together anywhere from the float switch to that relay.
