Hi all,

Have enjoyed learning from these forums for many years, and finally ready to ask a question...

Our new home on Cape Cod Massachusetts (Climate Zone 5) is very well insulated but has architectural feaures that are challenging - some vaulted ceilings and lots of large windows. There is about 2,600 sf of conditioned space.

We installed a Viessmann boiler for DHW and underfloor radiant heat (stapled up plates below subfloor). Per code, there basement ceiling is R-30 with Roxul and Fiberglass.

The house also has a Mitsubishi heat pump setup with one outdoor unit MXZ-SM48NAM-U1 <not hyperheat> coupled with 3) indoor units (wall mount, medium static, and a high static unit similar to a furnace). The cooling was awesome this summer with great dehumidification and virtually silent operation both inside and out.

ISSUE: Electricity is very expensive here - $0.33 per kWh and rising, and natural gas is ~$2.50 per thern. Initial plan was to baseload the radiant, and use the HP to supplement and fine tune comfort. I have struggled to find the cutover temperature, so I just assume 32F. Would love to find a tool that gives strategy incorporating both temperature and energy costs. Any suggestions? The Mitsubishi documentation does not include a COP vs. OAT curve.

IDEALLY - would love to have some sort of integrated controller that manages this cutover. The contractor installed wireless t-stats, and I am contemplating asking him to return and install the Mitsubishi Kumo Cloud platform, which was never in the original scope, although I don't think Kumo is capable of the cost comparison strategy...

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

3.41 btu's per watt have to figure in all taxes and deliver charges if any. Can get the info by calling mitz ask for tech. Standard temps are 47° and 17° published .If you never had floor radiate its wonderful nothing like coming in from the cold laying on the floor.
