Hello all .. I'm upgrading a bath including change from chrome to satin finishes. It's all pretty straightforward except for the tub spout. I presume it's a symmons since mixing valve is, but when I unthreaded it from wall I found this white plastic part left (which has larger diameter threads that spout went on). I ordered a symmons spout but it had standard 1/2 FIP threads in it. Obviously I'm very wary of messing with this white part and breaking it or something in the wall. So .. two questions:
#1 what is it called / who makes it and can I find a satin spout to thread on somewhere?
#2 if no to above, can I unthread or somehow remove it from wall and change to a copper stub out or 1/2" nipple or alternative?
And may or may not be helpful but although Symmons often have a tub/shower diverter lever at the valve, this one does not and uses diverter on tub spout.
Thanks as always for you expert advice! Phil

I think the plastic part there needs to come off. When you had the wall plate off did you notice how the valve was plumbed? Was it copper to the valve?
If so, then I would guess that the white plastic had a set screw and O-Ring seal onto copper. Have you checked under the spout to see if anything is there?
And the spout in your hand looks like Delta, but not the part on the wall.

Actually the plastic adapter is Delta. They have discontinued that exact spout in stainless finish but can be replaced with RP17483SS. The plastic will still need to be screwed off.

Thanks gentlemen! That picture explains exactly what I need to do. I did look for a set screw or clip of some sort, but now I understand how to get it off. Cheers!
