Hi, I’ve bought smart thermostatic Tado valves for all my radiators in our new house, but not installed them yet. We are having our bathroom and en-suite refitted soon. I want to have electric towel rails so I can control them easily on an app, and all other radiators controlled by thermostatic valves / time.

I have read though that I need a bypass radiator, and that the system describes above could damage the boiler. I’ve also read that a towel rail is the best option as a bypass. Wouldn’t that mean that the towel rail is on constantly though? That sounds awful and very wasteful.

Is it therefore impossible to have every radiator and towel rail in a house controlled smartly to only come on when needed? Am I missing something?!

Thanks

We currently have a Worcester combi boiler. Unsure what model. It’s getting on a bit and we will be replacing it as per of our works. Haven’t decided on what boiler to put in yet, but probably something compact in size if possible.

Running off the boiler we have / will have 10 radiators, 2 towel rails, two bathrooms with showers, and hot water otherwise in the kitchen and downstairs toilet.

As I say, looking to get all radiators and towel rails smart controlled so we can heat zonally and as required.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Doesn't matter what brand of condensing boilers the colder return the higher efficiency they make get above 55°c boiler stops condensing and efficiency drops to 87%. Have outdoor reset? Like to see how system is piped and the pumps.
