My basement washer drains into the plumbing as pictured on the right. It's 6.5 feet above the basement floor, and washer drain hose spec is: max 8 feet, recommended 5.5 feet. I inherited this setup from the prior homeowner.
  1. Is this ok in the first place? I haven't experienced any leakage or overflow issues yet. One practical downside though is the washer can only be in this exact spot given the length to the drainage hose.
  2. What are the implications of adding a utility sink with drain pump next to the washer? Would that help or hurt relative to addressing anything with #1?
Thanks
