Closeup. It's copper pipe with a brass sweat tee and a chrome tubular trap arm. Not sure if it's a threaded tee with some kind of rubber bushing packed into it?

Is that a rubber donut? If so, it would be a first for me.
I don't know. That's my guess. I was hoping it was a bad guess cause the chrome trap arm is about to start leaking above my newly raised ceiling.

Is there writing visible on the suspected donut?

I was imagining I saw some writing on the rubber.

Looks like a compression tee meant for water. No flash on the camera.
I think that matches the photo. So if that is the case, turn the nut CCW, pull the trap arm, lube new trap arm maybe, insert new trap arm, tighten nut.

Looks like the access to the nut is restricted.

I'll have to look at it from behind to see if that spins.

I don't think it's a water fitting, based on the shallow (dwv) sweat cups. But it could be some kind of compression. I'll report back when I get a chance to look again.

The hex on the branch of the tee makes me suspect it is threaded. Just a guess.

I thought it was a female (cleanout) tee that someone used a specialty packing in. Similar to some specialized urinal connections.

An old plumber guy told me this was a "brass trap adapter". The tubular trap is soldered into a bushing like threaded adapter. We think my only option is to cut and peel the adapter out and use a newer style slip joint brass trap adapter.
