No clue what kind of nut this is or how to remove it. Trying to replace kitchen faucet. Would appreciate the help

Hi, I’m trying to replace an old kitchen faucet as I already received a new one, but I have no clue how to remove the nut and pieces holding it in place. I don’t know the brand or how to even look on getting it off.

Is this a reducer between cast iron and ABS pipe?

Just bought a new clothes washer, and it says to connect the waste to a minimum 2" pipe, my house has 1.5" pipe so I followed it to this, pictured below. Is that a reducer? can I just hack that out and replace it with 2" pipe?

Moen 1255 Everlast cartridge leaks, the fix from Moen

I have been noticing that some of my customers with Moen kitchen faucets have had issues with the leaking 1255 cartridge. For some I've gone back several times. Moen now has a kit they send out that helps to keep the cartridge from loosening and therefore leaking. The is the kit. Once...

    Replacing shutoffs on PEX-A

I'm considering purchasing a production home that will be built with PEX-A. The builder appears to be using Accor shutoff valves, which I'd plan to replace fairly soon after moving in. But I could foresee an issue with the stub-outs being fairly short meaning simply cutting off the old valve...

    2nd Floor Bathroom Plumbing

MOVED THIS QUESTION TO A MORE APPROPRIATE FORUM: https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/bath-dwv-for-2nd-floor-bath.92085/ I've been doing some research online and there seems to be a few ways to solve my problem, but I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on how to tackle this. I...

    Valley Shower Handle Removal

I am trying to replace my shower handle and I can 't quite figure out how to remove the old handle. I have removed the lever and the escutcheon, but cannot get the rest off. I can't find any screws or anything on the handle, and I am wondering if anyone knows how to remove? Any input is appreciated!

How to fasten kitchen sink handle (Delta?)

Faucet handle came off of stem. I assumed that a hex set screw attached it, but no screw found, and the hole where I would think a screw would go doesn't go all the way through; plus I don't see threads (though it's very small; hard to see). I tried an 8/32 and 6/32 screw; both seemed too big...

Replacing deep well jet pump with higher horsepower

Hi all, first time post here. I can't seem to find this answer anywhere, but maybe I'm overthinking it. I have a 1/2 hp deep well jet pump (FE Myers HJ50D). Unfortunately, I don't know how deep the well is. The most pressure I can get is about 39psi and my pump can only supply about 4.5 gpm. I'd...

    Replacing a urinal flushometer

To the right is the shutoff that is turned with a flat blade screwdriver. What you see now is the cap that unthreads to give you access to it. The flushometer is connected by the large nut on the right, which has some adjustment for distance and the two nuts on the vertical that hold the vacuum...

When should you replace your disposal? How long do they last?

I like to replace disposals at eight years. If you ask the manufacturer, they will tell you they are good for 15 years. Well..........maybe that can happen. What can also happen is that the blades get dull and they start peeling instead of chipping and the need to call a plumber to clear your...

Grohe kitchen pull-out spout leak. Water in the cabinet below.

I get calls for water in the cabinet below on the kitchen sink often. Sometimes it's just a matter of tightening up the spray head onto the hose. Sometimes it is the hose that has gone bad and needs a replacement. This is one of those stories you can tell your grand kids about. The story of the...

Flapper replaced, still ghost flushes occasionally

My old flapper was definitely not forming a tight seal, so I got it replaced. I've put a new flapper on the toilet (a Toto 3-inch), but occasionally when I flush it still won't form a tight seal so it'll leak. If I flush it again it usually fixes itself and seals properly. This only happens 30%...

Installing new Mediterranean Bronze trim for Moen Posi-Temp

Installing new Mediterranean Bronze trim for Moen Posi-Temp to replace the old chrome fixtures. The first thing I did was to remove the old chrome trim and toss it out the window. Hit a dog running by and it yelped, so then someone poked their head in and asked what's up? Nothin! I'm just...

Dealing with plumbing in a small laundry room

I'm in a bit of a bind with my current plumbing setup. My townhouse (NJ) is built on slab and all my major HVAC/water appliances are sitting in a small laundry room on the ground floor level (see the image). Now came the time to replace my furnace but it’s completely blocked by the pipes coming...

Replacing a hosebib with a frost free hosebib

Sometimes you will need to replace an outside hosebib. The one in thise pictures is from a 1959 home in Bellevue. The home has galvanized piping. For whatever reason, the shutoff here is barely threaded onto to the galvanized pipe nipple. I reached in and pulled it out without tools. Yes, I'm...

Replace Gate valve (no pipe slack)

Hi Terry, I need to replace two gate valves in my home. One valve is locked up, and the other appears to have a broken stem. The regulator can be remove but there is no play in the pipes that will allow me to separate and reconnect the joints. The two pipes that feed outdoor faucets exit to...

Replace 1.5" galvanized washer drain with 2" ABS

Many homes in the 60's had 1.5" galvanized waste lines for the washer. My parents had something like that and it flooded often. I replaced theirs in the 70's. Here is a Lake Hills home from 1960 with the old galvanized trap and standpipe, which was also flooding. At the concrete level I found a...
