What in the well?..

I opened my well casing yesterday to find out if I have a pitless adapter that I’ve been reading about.

In the picture attached it sure looks like there is a female thread that I could screw a pipe into to pull it out. However I can’t actually see the adapter.

There is also that block of steel with a steel dowel protruding upwards from it.

Does anybody know what that is?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I feel confident you have a pitless adapter, but I don't recognize it. I would try to vacuum debris from the center round thing. Make sure you don't drop a vacuum tube or other vacuum cleaner part into the well. Maybe duct-tape the tubing connections.
