Hello All,

If a gas union has a slight leak, is it acceptable to attempt to check tightness/tighten union ring with the gas still on? I.e. Spark concerns, etc?

I assume this is an obvious NO DO NOT, don't be a fool!, but was wondering if it turns out this is not a problem.

Thanks!

A union works best if everything is well aligned. Angular offsets can be a problem. It doesn't hurt to dab a little pipe dope on the mating surfaces (not on the threads) to help with the seal...just don't overdo it - a little goes a long ways.
