Hello all. New to this forum:) I recently bought a house with a shower diverter problem I have never seen. The faucet is a single mixer style. The house has a well and pressure tank. While using the shower, it will make a loud "clunk" noise once. When this happens, no water out of the faucet and only very little flow out of the shower which is VERY hot. The diverter handle is still in the up position. The only way to restore the flow to the shower head, is to push the handle back down and then pull up again. Sometimes while doing this, this problem will appear 7 or more times in a row then goes away. NEVER seen this before. Any ideas? Please help. K-dog:confused:

Sounds like the problem is with your pressure balancing spool and not in the diverter. You must have large fluctuations in your water pressure, which causes the pressure balancing spool to reduce the flow of cold water. I'm not sure if you can adjust the sensitivity of the spool. What is the make of your shower?

I will have to get back to you on the brand of shower. I have never even heard of a pressure balancing spool. Where is this even located? I am clueless here :)
