Hi,

Hoping to get some thoughts and insights. I recently had my well pump replaced with a Grudfos 10SQ07-200. There was a second check valve entering the home which was chattering and I needed to also replace a 27 year old pressure tank plus reconfigure the whole setup. Original setup shown here Replacing 27 year-old pressure tank

I replaced the old tank with a new WX-203, tank tee, and repiped. I used the existing switch and pressure gauge which are both fairly new. Pressure tank when empty is set at 38PSI and the switch is 40/60.

However, I noticed that when the switch kicks in now at 40 the pressure drops to ~25 PSI and almost seems to be a slight delay before I feel the water coming in from the pump and then once the gauge starts to go up again it goes to 60PSI and shuts off just fine. Also interesting to note that there has been some random drops from a 75PSI relief valve and I am nowhere near that. Is that normal?

I did not check the switch before I moved it but wondering if anyone had thoughts on what might be the reason and next steps for this.

Thanks.

-Eric

Drop the air precharge a bit. The SQ pumps have a "soft start" built in. https://www.grundfos.com/us/learn/e...-sq-sqe/sq-sqe-protection-features-soft-start Time 2:24 describes the soft start.

Try dropping the air precharge to 37 or 36 to see how that is, and let us know.

I do not see an above-ground check valve now, and that is good.

Regarding the drips from the 75 psi relief valve, that does not sound normal to me. Try removing the cover and adjusting the pressure relief. See https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/help-with-cycle-stop-valve-csv125.99593/#post-716266

I edited post #2. Remove the hex-head cover, and tighten the screw a tad.
