I recently inspected a home that had damage to the HVAC duct. The issue is that it is located inside the soffit of the game room. The drywall has been removed; however, the soffit framing is still in place. How would one remove the duct and then replace it? Would the cross-sections need to be removed to access the duct? I may have the terminology wrong.

Also, what would be a standard cost to do this job (location: Nags Head, NC)? This is roughly 12 linear feet. I will be getting a quote from the contractor next week which will be broken down into line items. In the interim, if I can prepare the estimate prior to then, I'll be ahead of the game and only have to come to an agreed price.

By the way, I am an insurance adjuster and have not yet had to replace the duct in any soffit, so this is new.

Thank you in advance! :)
