Plumbing outside sewer line

I have a leak. Ruled out ,inside plumbing. Am now digging up sewer line by hand without any equipment. If I do in fact find the leak. How do you make a new hole in existing sewer pipe for new drain from house ( replacing old from house to main line)

question is a bit vague , dig down find the pipe take pictures figure out what pipe you have typically ABS, PVC, cast iron , or clay, also another one called Orangeburg . not nessesarily in any order of what is most common
