I'm planning on installing a outdoor sump pump to keep water from getting into my basement during bad rain storms. My question is does a sealed system need a vent?
Also i live in a cold weather climate. Does anyone have a tips that i should keep in mind when i go to install this?

Is that relevant to the outdoor sump pump question, and how do you mean sealed? Sump pumps normally don't go into sealed pits.

You would either make the pump removable for winter, or you would use a pit below the frost line.

I plan to use a cover for the sump pit.
