It’s me again, with another dilemma…
Old tub/shower, with Sterling logo on the big handles. I pulled the stem out on one side, and in the back of the mixer valve was a small piece of “plastic” that came out with the stem. Looking inside it appears the back of the stem receptacle has a flat, white plastic lining. That little piece looks like it could have come from it. (I’ll try and add a pic)
I’ve done a few different stem replacements over the years but this one looks like any I’ve ever seen. I’m thinking this damaged plastic piece/lining has rendered the whole valve defective and I’ll need to replace the whole thing.
Anyone tell me for sure if it’s ok with a new stem?
Second pic is the business end of the stem.
