I am planning to instal a linear shower drain. I want the body to sit below the tile. Is that a problem?

It depends on the design of the drain, but the grate is generally adjustable in height to accommodate the thickness of the tile used. The body normally sits below the tile so that surface water can flow in. For maximum invisibility, consider a tileable grate.
