Hello

So I used to have a laundry tub in my house but the old homeowner took it out. He basically just a strap on the ground and we put the washer discharge hose into it. Never leaked or anything

I got a new washer and did the new drain. Drains fine right now and no leaks.

I was wondering if I should Hard Pipe it and add a vent using a santee? So one side going out to add a vent,

Again nothing is leaking and its draning fine. Just leave it alone

Yes, it should have a vent, but that alone will not make it comply with most codes. Vent could be AAV under IPC. The piping should be 2-inch. Not sure about NJ about either part.

If concerned just with function, I might just replace that 2 inch pipe with a longer piece, or glue another piece of 2-inch on the top of what you have. That would likely help if you only get fairly small overflow right now. I am not a plumber.

Yes I know about the 2 inch but the drain is 1.5. Old house.

I was thinking of using a Santee where the first 90 is. and add a vent on the opposite side of the 2inch pipe

I see no 90 in your photo.

Adding a vent will not make the standpipe drain better. It only prevents the U of the trap from siphoning out, thus preventing smells.

Ty I mean the first trap bend. So if no water is being siphoned out leave it alone?
