Frost Free Hose Bibb Length

I need to replace my exterior frost free hose bib. The current one is only 6 in but I have pleanty of room to move up to as big as a 12 in one . Do the longer length ones provide more protection in the winter?

I would say " YES".
The further the actual valve closure is within the heated space the better.

Be sure you maintain a slight pitch downward to the sigot for drainage.
