For the first several years I had zero issues with my sprinklers system. I blow them out myself and all was fine...until the people siding my house broke the line around my backflow preventer valve. Since then, it seems to be broken every winter between the backflow valve and the house. I'm not sure what that line was before but guessing it's PVC, just like the rest of the system after the valve. For 4 years it's been breaking every winter - not sure if it's contact by animal, freezing (which doesn't make sense) or why it keeps breaking but I'm looking to replace the supply line on the exterior with brass or copper. Brass makes sense since the connection on the side of the house is brass and the valve is brass but I'm not sure how to make the connection since I only have pex tools. I guess s nipple an absolute perfect length would work but doubt I will find such a thing. I know sharkbite isn't ideal but would it be ok to use a brass 90 with one end being shark bite while cutting off a brass nipple that feeds into the shark bite fitting? If not, how do I connect this with specialty tools?

Thanks.
