I plan to convert a tub-shower space to a tiled shower on a concrete slab.
1) Can I cut/remove the existing drain shoe at any one of the locations identified in the picture and use a Fenco coupling to join another 1 1/2” pie that will attach to a 1 1/2” to 2” converter for the shower drain?
2) where would be the best place to cut?

Normally a shower has a 2" drain and trap. You may have that lower down in the dirt.
Right now, it's a 1.5" up to the tub drain. I would open things up a bit more and see what all of your options are.
