Hello

I put a new cartridge in my tub faucet and it is still leaking. Perhaps it isn't seated properly. I tightened the cartridge retaining nut pretty tight but my question is as follows. Should I or could I have coated the inside of the retaining nut threads with pipe joint compound to get a better seal or is it better to use one of the teflon pastes on the inside threads?

Thanks so much for your help

pipe dope no! just messy and no help, a dab of silicone lube is ok , some of the delta threaded rings are hard to remove if the ring is squeezed hard with pliars it just makes it worse , But generaly totaly unnessesary and another thing that nut dosent need to be really tight if its gonna leak its gonna leak and no matter how tight you go it will probebly still leak I suspect some other reason for the leak , Im assuming iots not a packing nut?

There is no packing nut just a nut that goes over the cartridge to tighten. I tightened it quite a bit but it is still leaking and that is why I wonder if i didn't seat the cartridge properly. I was wondering if I put a little teflon paste thread sealer inside the nut if that would help

Thanks,

Norm

What faucet? Dope won't seal or stop a leak over 1psi it's mainly lube.

I know its not a packing nut tightening a packing nut helps but tightening the nut that you tighten does nothing . could be a bad cartridge or damaged valve body . something is wrong
