Chlorinating a well

I always use to dump a gallon of bleach in well, run a hose house to well casing to recirculate for an hour and then run thru house & softener then let it set for a couple hours, then run the taps to deplete. I guess I should use my bypass at softener from now on to not damage beads...

Yes, do not chlorinate the softener if you can avoid it. Why are you dousing the well and how often?
