Can I just disconnect this indirect water heater?

My indirect water heater was installed with no thought to galvanic corrosion. I want to completely disconnect it from the boiler. Can I just close the valves, cap the pipe, and disconnect the thermostat from the boiler controls?

I will not be replacing it with another indirect heater.
