Family of 5. 2 bath house. Wondering about the Rennais or Naviens. We don’t have a return line but we would like a recirc system if possible. From my understanding, Navien is the only one with a tankless able to have a recirc without a return line

Its not a true recirc system without a dedicated line. and other tanklesses can be used on a home without a return line as well .
I don't have a preference on brand to buy

Navien does have a "bridge" type bypass for using the no-dedicated-return type of gadget, and they do have settings to accommodate their device.
What they do have that is actually great, is the NPE A series with the mini tank to keep a bit of hot water ready to go, and eliminate hot/cold sandwiching.
They have great tech support but only for actual plumbers.
I am a fan and there are excellent pros who have had a few bad experiences.
Local support options are important, so look up on brand website to see who is listed as NSS (Navien service specialist) in your area, or verified as trained at least, like me, but not NSS. (NSS requires accepting their poor reimbursement rates under warranty).

breplum is right, whatever you chose it is important that you can get service from a local company. If you are buying on line, it may not be possible for anyone to do warranty work. With a down WH and having to wait for parts to be shipped, the wife will not be happy. Highly recommend you buy from a local company.
