Around August of this year pump (1HP - JP 16-10-187 1-Stage Shallow Well Jet Pump) started losing its prime, cavitating, and not being able to draw enough water to feed six sprinkler heads. We have had this system for over 10 years, and this hasn't happened before, so I started looking for a well. Found the well and replaced the check valve, but the issue only worsened. The well had a PVC cap on it so I cut it off.
Water is at 9ft. down, and the well is 30ft deep.
There is some sort of a concrete seal around it. I busted some of it off but it goes deeper than I expected. So back to the questions:
1. What type of well is it, and is there another larger casing?
2. Should I be thinking convertible jet pump or something else?

Thanks in advance.

There is some ambiguity, but due to the check valve in the photo, it would be a shallow well with the top part cut off. With that top part cut off, the pump will not be able to cause suction to lift water.

So what is below? Maybe galvanized pipes with a drive point on the bottom, and the PVC connects to the galvanized not far down.

It is possible there is something more like a 4 inch casing and there is a well seal below the dirt. Doubt that.
