I bought a Kenmore Ultrasoft 400 in 2004. It worked great until Monday. During a regeneration the motor was binding when going to another cycle. It finally gave a ERR1. I unplugged it until the next day. The NET says the motor has failed. I bought a new motor and O ring kit. I greased all of the O rings and lined up the assembly. The new motor still drags but not as bad. It finished the cycle. Would it be the plastic bearing on top the cam and gear

625.75130 is my model number. I did not take the bypass apart, how would that effect the motor movement? I put all new seals in

This is your model, pages 26 & 27 and it's identical to the one above. The motor turns a shaft that is connected to parts 64 and 65. These must slide smoothly and since you hear that the motor is straining, they probably have degraded. Leaving it as is the new motor may not last. It appears to be complicated to take apart and reassembled there are many parts but depending on your skill set it's up to you.

I cannot be certain on this since I do not know what a new or normal operation should be. Listening to the video, it sounds like the gears are stripping.

I replaced 64 which is a rubber gasket and plastic part that sit on the gasket, 65 is on round roller. I had it out. It has a spring on the bottom, but did not
replace the disc on top. I still have it. . I'll take it apart and post it.

Thanks for all replies

Edit

I did have it out this morning and replaced 64 and 65. I'll backwash tomorrow and post back

When you mentioned seals, it wasn't clear which ones were changed. Nice work there. Is part #55 part of the motor? Can you operate the motor not attached the the bottom half? The video sounds like gears are jumping or stripping or it just might be working as designed?

Yes 55 is the gear the motor runs. It's back together and here is the 4 movie clips into 1. Does it sound ok

Ok people still have the problem. The motor struggles so hard it goes to error 3 again. I done some internet search and it says the rotor and disc must be smooth. I removed the motor and switch to see if I could rotate the rotor clockwise. Youtube shows it being rotated fairly easy. I left the cam and gear on and could not budge it. I carefully removed the cover and checked that the parts were in order. They were. The bottom of the rotor has light circular groves. I could barely feel them with my finger nail. I used the proper silicone during installation.

Would those fine groves be my failure

Thanks again
