Connecting an ornate 1920 cast iron radiator into the hydronic heat system in my basement. It's to be a centerpiece to top off a remodeling job in progress. I'm almost done but have been saying that for a year now.

Inlets/outlet ports of the radiator appear to be straight threaded. Fittings I took out don't appear to be tapered. Threaded portions are rather "stubby".

So far I've been unable to find any fittings that are NPH (straight thread). NPT fittings will thread in. Trouble is there's still a lot of fitting sticking out when the tapered thread seats and it looks lousy, especially since I chose this radiator for its appearance.

Fittings needed are 1.5" x .75" reducer bushing, 2" x .75 reducer bushing, and a 1.25" plug.

My questions are:

1) Is there a style of fitting where the threaded portion isn't as long as the usual garden variety fittings. If so perhaps have less of the threads "sticking out".
2) Are NPH iron fittings available anywhere. I've hunted and have yet to find any so far. What I do find are related to hydraulic hoses and such.

Thanks for any help!
