I will be replacing a 12 year old softener and iron filter and I would like to know people's opinions on:
1) The most reliable control head / valve
2) The easiest to maintain

I know that these may be different, but I'm hoping I can there's something out there which is very reliable and easy to maintain.

My softener is using a Fleck 7000SXT and the iron filter is using what should be an Autotrol valve. The Autotrol causes severe water hammer, so I'm not interested in another one of those. The current tanks are 1.5 cubic feet, 50k, if I remember correctly.
