I am looking for some guidance on replacing the top of the tank seal for my Clack WS1 softener. I noticed the seal around the control head to the resin tank developed a small leak. For the time being I have bypassed the tank switching the control valves. My assumption is I need this v3180 seal in reading through this forum and the internet with a dab of silicon on the o ring. My clack unit is plumbed in via hard line and it has been over 10 years since I've messed with it.
Is there a tutorial or set of steps to remove the head unit from the tank. I think I read I want to start a regen cycle to release pressure first. But, I wasn't sure if it was as simple as unscrewing the head unit from the tank?
Is it a good idea to get other seals as they may be damaged when I remove the head unit from the tank?
The leak can be seen below in the image, behind the power cord line.
Thanks in advance.
