Power keeps going in pump box

Every winter the coil goes bad in our submerged well power box. It's been professionally replaced 3 times. The pump in new this summer. It feeds a burried tank and is gravity fed only. This time there was buzzing and when we cycled the breaker the buzzing got louder until the entire box started violently vibrating. The pump was not vibrating. The coil will only stay on if we push the switch in the middle of it. We only have one company that can look at itand they can't seem to get it fixed to last. Ideas?

Contactor buzzing? It buzzes because the contact laminated plates have started to corrode.and rust is when contactor is closed it will buzz. A mercury contactor

Control box for the pump. (Breakers,switches etc.)

That is just a relay or contactor, not a control box. The coils in those are susceptible to lightning and voltage surges and can also give problems like Fitter mentioned. You can get a float switch that handles enough amps to not need a contactor. That way the pump is just directly wired through the float switch.

The green oxidation on the coil connector will not be helping your situation since the increased resistance through the corrosion, will most likely reduce current flow through the coil, and increase the amount of heat created directly at the connector.

How many HP is the pump, or how many amps is the breaker?

Is this contactor far from the pressure switch? If far, that could lead to a reason to use a contactor.
