Hi
We currently run an oil fired hot water tank (80gal amtrol) withca burnham v75 and a beckett burner to supply our hot water here in maine. Probably oversized now since all kids are out of the house and its just two people. In any event we are interested in putting in a tankless system to use as our daily but we want to keep the old system as a standby for several reasons...as backup...as a switchover if we have a large contingent of guests which can happen...and for the fact that i dont wanna have to deconstruct the oil fired zone (it also runs our baseboard heat). So i need advice as to where in the lineup the tankless would be place and how the best way would be to create idea of a simple switchover between the two heating sources re the plumbing. Some may say why do it/just do one but were in maine and stuff goes sideways here re power outages/weather/oil and electric prices etc and the oil is on the generac already so im looking at it as a backup to the tankless. Long winded yes and sorry for the 1 paragraph lol but hopefully yall get the idea that 2 hot water heating sources can be a good thing here as long as we can deftly have these working in tandem...the tankless being the main and the oil fired 80 gal amtrol being the backup. Fire away and thanks!
