Heyo,
Looking to pair an indirect water heater with an electric water heater.
The purpose of the indirect is to preheat water using solar hot water collectors before being fed into the electric water heater.
I have a drawing with what I'm thinking. Would love to hear any thoughts.
I'm not sure if connecting the drains is useful/necessary...was thinking that tank drains would normally be open and the cold water would "stratify" to the coldest tank which most often be the indirect tank where it can be heated by solar (for free-ish) and use the electric element less.
When there's a lot of solar hot water being generated, is it possible it will force hot water into the electric heater as the coldest water comes from the electric to the indirect via the drain connection...?
Thanks for your time and attention, it is valuable currency and I appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Merce
